Guided Quote - Do you mind getting a referral to see specialists?
If you would prefer to see a doctor without having to get a referral, you benefit from a national provider network of doctor’s.
HMO’s (Health Maintenance Organizations) only cover the insured if a doctor is a member of the HMO network. HMO’s also require a referral from a primary care physician (PCP) to see a specialist.
PPO’s (Preferred Provider Organizations) offer a national network of doctor’s and do not require a referral to see a specialist. As long as a doctor is a member of the company’s PPO network, the services will be covered. If the insured chooses to see a doctor outside of the PPO network, he/she will be responsible for a larger percentage of costs for covered services. As the insured, you will have access to a national network of doctor’s and will not be required to get a referral to see a specialist.
